Update 14/09/2023

Thank you to all of you, who have helped to kick start this fundraising. We are going to Amizmiz this morning

Friday was a slight trial day. We delivered food and some solar lamps. We then decided that food is no longer needed as the government supplies are getting there.

Saturday We collected 175 meters of fleece and have ordered another 300 meters. Also hundreds of meters of plastic.

Everyone are living in tents as the government has to check each house before they move back in, that is for the lucky ones that still have a houses.

The are no lights at night in or around the tents hence the trial of solar lights. There is one wc for about 150 people again with no electricit or running water.

The tents that are waterproof are too hot to stay in during the day so we have ordered that is in short supply so that they can cover their tents when in rains (scheduled for Wednesday) and take it off when the sun shines.

We have also steted to supply underwear for the women, and sanitary products. Products for the old have also been bought.

There are some new pictures above from Amizmiz to give you an idea. The image with the red arrow points to the wc. Imagine using that at night in the dark with wild animals around

The governement representatives have been going around the affected areas since the beginning of last week to see whether the houses can be lived in, repaired or rebuilt.. Most of the villagers do not have insurance. The government is giving approximately 8000 € if your house is damaged and 14000€ if you have lost your house. At present the government has asked everyone to sleep outside until a report has been made in order to allow the people back into their houses.

So far we have delivered from the monies raised over 300 blankets and enough plastic to cover the tents (we will be supplying more). The fleece made wraps and now we have changed to a thicker material to make blankets . Many of the tents are not waterproof, which in someways is a benefit as you do not get too hot during the day, but when it rains they obviously need cover hence the plastic.

Jarjeer Mule and Donkey Sanctuary have also provided us with bags and bags of clothing which we are distributing around the villages near to us. There have been many trucks that have gone up in to the mountains around Amizmiz but not many that enter the villages surrounding the hotel.

We are now trying to source pallets so that beds will not be on the ground when the rain comes.

Sorry for the slow updates but they will continue to come

We have supplied more plastic to cover the tents. Pallets hopefully are on their way. We had 20 bread ovens made and distributed with another 20 on the way. They use calor gas bottles so are very economical to use.

At present we are holding back to see what the governement is giving especially to those that have lost everything. We hope to be able to supply labour, and materials to help with the rebuild of several houses.

The above is in the Village Tagadirt commune Amghrasse where Latifa was able to take some of the 40 bread ovens that our fund has paid for. She has also been able to distribute in the Anougal Valley and Azgore valley which are hard to reach. Over 1 km of plastic, 500 blankets, 40 breadovens and many clothes have been disrtibuted. The fund has raised over £12,500 and we still have over half left. We are waiting to see how we can help some of the families rebuild their houses.

20.02.2024

The government has started to clear the houses that they have deemed uninhabitable so that the owners can start to rebuild. We have three members of staff that have lost their houses and some of your donations will go to helping them rebuild. I will keep you all updated as we progress with what we are purchasing. Thank you for all your help.
